My life changed forever last Friday with the birth of a beautiful baby boy….. Our yet-to-be-named baby was born early Friday morning after a long and tough labour (much more about that later). He was 6lbs, 8oz (2960g). And funnily enough, he was born on my birthday! That’s one helluva birthday present.
We were so taken by surprise as I thought for sure I’d go for full 40 weeks. The nursery is still under construction. There’s baby stuff all over the house. But we are coping well. Mummy’s smitten with her kitten… He’s so lovely and cuddly and we are already in love with him. Aaaaahhhh…
An amazing journey has begun….

Holy crap, indeed! Major congratulations. I was thinking just this morning about how, even though I feel like this kid is lodged up in my lungs permanently, it really could happen at any moment and that we are totally unprepared. But you just proved that, yes, while it can happen any moment, being unprepared is okay. All they need is warmth and food and love, and all of that comes naturally.
Enjoy this time and sleep when you can!

Yes, so far so good. He sleeps a lot and only wakes a couple of times a night for food. Then he drifts happily off to sleep again.
It’s still a bit weird having a baby… To think he’s actually ours… wow.
